Carla Laemmle, an actress whose screen career began in the silent era, died on June 12 at the age of 104. Her uncle, Carl Laemmle, founded Universal Studios, where she grew up. Carla made her first screen appearance in the 1925 “Phantom of the Opera” starring Lon Chaney, and uttered the opening line of the 1931 “Dracula,” starring Bela Lugosi.
